WP 5 : requirements, use case, Business model

This work package aims at creating within a TV channel a use case on collaborative production by professionals and amateurs. This work package will be a lab for a future audiovisual production chain. It will validate all the options of the project : the USE container (ingest tools developed, camcorder, camera mate in WP3), it will be stack upon the Open Semantic Bus developed in WP4, and be a concrete application for the search engine tool “Exalead”.

For the "Content” partners, it is a question of passing from a "digitized Gutenberg or Hypertext universe’, to a “Hypermedia” universe thanks to the capitalization of years of research and developments in the semantic and interactive numerical galaxy!

For the "content partners ", the WP 5 of the MediaMap project has primarily 5 aims:

  1. To contribute with SkemA to the definition and making of a powerful wrapper for the semantic management of audio-visual contents “USE”:
    • to support the cross indexing professional - user Community
    • to validate a platform of collaborative production between producer and user in an interactive way (Use Generated Content)

  2. To study the sustainability (perpetuation) of information thanks to the use of semantic wrappers by supporting the cross indexation of data (to users Communities) and the collaborative production of contents
  1. To study and choose open formats for all the objects that the project intends to handle (video, audio, text, photograph, object, references) for the semantic platform
  1. To study the installation of a multilingual Web site with the integration of data-processing tools (structuring the information in multilingual/ ontology mode, automatic multilingual/translation / translation assisted by computer-; ...) with the help of a sub-contractor.
  1. To study a management of the rights suitable with these new practices (DRM)

To validate the cross indexing and the multilingualism, the partners of the project agree to build a two stage demonstrator. The first one (alpha phase) will be a mock-up based on “Birthday of Expo 58 in Brussels”, the second one (beta phase) will be the demonstrator itself based on the results of the tasks 5.1, 5.2 and 5.3. At the final stage, the demonstrator will be tested for a real collaborative production.
